Dental Implants

All on 4 dental implants (All-on-4® treatment concept) are a registered trademark of Nobel Biocare that allows four titanium implants to be placed on the anterior maxilla. The all on 4 places the implants on the anterior maxilla because the jawbone is thickest in this area; thus providing a more secure place for the titanium devices.

All on 4 dental implants (All-on-4® treatment concept) allows the implantation to take place even in the mouths of people who have less than adequate amounts of bone. Most implants of this nature require a large amount of jawbone for the dentist to implant the titanium devices in.

All-on-4 Dental Implants Technique

Invented by a Portuguese implantologist, Dr. Paulo Malo, the all-on-4 dental implant technique allows you to receive a full set of fixed (non-removable), artificial teeth during a single appointment.

This revolutionary implantation technology refers to the restoration of a fully edentulous arch with as few as 4 dental implants surgically placed at specific angles. They can also be used to support dentures.

Often referred to as teeth in one day or same day implants, the all-on-4 dental implants allows a surgeon to attach a full set of replacement teeth in the upper and/or lower jaw utilizing just 4 dental implants. These specially designed artificial teeth look, feel and function like natural teeth.

The all-on-4 dental implants are the optimal solution for patients who lack the bone volume required to support traditional implants as well as those who cannot tolerate dentures and their associated problems.

One of the biggest advantages of the All-on-4 dental implants (All-on-4® treatment concept) is that a smaller amount of implants is required to replace a whole row of teeth.

As well, you get new permanent prosthetic teeth in just a single session. You can go home that same day with a fully functional set of pearly whites, even if you need extractions of teeth.

The technique ensures maximum safety and comfort throughout the entire process, including any necessary extractions of failing teeth. The procedure delivers superior aesthetic results in the shortest time.

The All-on-4 dental implants are minimally invasive and less costly than traditional dentures and dental implant techniques.

This same-day procedure has significantly high success rates, which can be more than 99% for lower (mandibular) arch and more than 98% for the upper (maxillary) jaw.

Secured by just 4 implants, the replacement teeth are virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

This technique doesn’t require the lengthy and painful bone grafting procedure prior to having implants placed, hence takes lesser time to heal.

An instant fully restored bite functionality is an added advantage. With new teeth, you can eat, chew and speak with ease and comfort again. You experience a vast improvement in self-esteem and aesthetics of your facial appearance.

Your teeth won’t move around, slip or come out anymore while speaking or eating, and will give you more oral comfort.

You no longer need messy adhesives to prevent the teeth from slipping or to remove your teeth at nighttime or after meals for cleaning. These new teeth are cared for and cleaned just like natural teeth. You should make it a habit to clean the prosthetic teeth after each meal in order to control bacterial biofilm. Regular brushing, flossing, and rinsing are essential in order for them to keep functioning in a healthy way.

All-on-4® Dental Implants:

All-on-4 implants are a permanent set of fabricated teeth set on dental implants surgically placed into your jaw. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

All-on-4 dental implants have the following benefits:

  • Do not need adhesives
  • Prevent bone deterioration
  • No risk of shifting or slipping during the day
  • No need to be removed
  • Complete comfort because they do not put pressure on your gums
  • Much easier to eat, bite forcefully, and taste so you can still enjoy all of your favorite foods
  • Maintain and support your facial features

The All-on-4® Dental Implant technique relies on four implants for support and most patients do not need a bone graft before their procedure. Before the treatment begins, the patient is numbed so that they do not feel any pain or discomfort. Four dental implants are placed in the areas with the highest bone volume. After the implants have been placed, a new or existing denture can be used as a framework to install a temporary set of teeth that are attached the same day. The bone is fully integrated with the implant within six months and a final set of teeth are anchored into place.

Step-by-step process for getting an All-On-4 dental implant

First, we want to make sure you are comfortable, so either local or general anesthesia will be administered for you.

Second, we will prepare your mouth for the implants that will involve removing your remaining teeth that are failing. We will then remove any diseased or infected tissue from your jaw and gums.

Next, we will begin the implantation process. This means we will insert the titanium screws into your jawbone. Most likely, we will place two implants toward the front of your mouth and two towards the back of your mouth so the “anchors” can evenly bare the force of the denture.

After the implants have been placed, we will thoroughly clean the surgical sites and suture all the incisions.

The basic All-On-4 implant procedure involves anesthesia, preparation of the area, placing the implant, and post-operative cleaning and suturing.
